A few days ago, a video of ace comedian Bharti Singh joking about ‘daadi mooch' (beard and moustache) with friend Jasmin Bhasin had gone viral on social media. The Comedy queen was slammed by many, especially by the Sikh community for mocking and disrespecting their beard and moustache. #Shameonyoubharti started trending on Twitter with netizens lashing out at Bharti. Now, the actress has reacted to strong criticism over her viral clip and apologized saying her intentions were not to hurt the religious sentiments of any community.
While issuing her apology, Bharti Singh shared a video of herself and wrote, “Main comedy karti hoon logo ko khush karne ke liye na ki kisi ka dil dukhane ke liye .agar meri kisi baat se koi hurt hua ho tho maaf kar dena aapni behan samjh ke#punjabi #proudpunjabi #love #respect.” In the clip, she can be heard saying, “There's a video that's been going viral from the last 3 to 4 days claiming that I have made fun of 'daadi mooch'. I have seen the video repeatedly and request people to watch it too as I have not said anything against any religion or caste. Bharti added, “I was doing comedy with my friend but if it has hurt the sentiments of any section, I apologise with folded hands. I am a Punjabi myself, I was born in Amritsar and I'd always respect it. I am a proud Punjabi, too.”
In the viral video, the comedian had made fun of having 'daadi mooch'. She said when you drink milk and put beard in your mouth, it tastes like sewaiyan. Not just that, Singh also spoke about men with heavy beards having lice.
